First Clemson Football Game

Saturday we set off for a long day in Clemson. While we were only there for about 8 hours I felt like we were packing for a trip. We left the house with 2 cute babies, a double stroll, a can of formula, 4 outfits, bottles of water, 12 bottles (8 big-4 small), many diapers and wipes, a cooler and other ancillary items to help us get through the day.

We started out with an alumni tailgate for the Clemson women's soccer team. It was great to catch up with former players and reminisce about the old days. We have about 20 players come back for the weekend. We are hoping that we can rekindle the alumni spirit and get more back every year.

About an hour before kick off we headed over to my sisters office to drop off our load of stuff we might need during the game-Siri is the Women's Soccer Assitant Coach. We sunscreened up the babies strapped them on us in the b'jorns and headed to Death Valley. Once we got in the stadium we quickly found our seats and were relieved to find that we were completely in the shade. If this had not been the case I am not sure if we would have made it more than 10 minutes.

And then the twins were able to experience their very first time watching the 25 most exciting seconds in pregame football-The Clemson Tigers rubbing the rock and running down the hill into the stadium.

Jackson and Riggs seemed to enjoy the energy in the stadium for a little bit but the day had worn them out. They were quickly taking naps amongst all the commotion. We made it through the first half but all 4 of us were hot and out of steam so we headed back to my sisters office and finished watch the game in the AC.  While the team did not play great they were able to pull out the big W in the end.

We had a great but exhausting day in Tigertown. We were excited to take the twins to their first game but Nana and Granddaddy will be coming to watch them for the Auburn game so we can go and relax!

Virtual Bible Study

I am really excited to be participating in a virtual bible study put together by Jennifer at Munchkin Land. We are going to be spending the next 6 months going through Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas with a group of ladies from all over blog land. I am eager to see how this will all work and to go through this book with a Godly group of women. I think this will be such a neat experience to grow in my relationship with God and with my fabulous husband Aaron.

First Friday

We had a crazy busy but fun weekend in Clemson as it is commonly said there is just something in these hills. I loved being a Tiger when I was in school at Clemson. However I think I have become a bigger fan since Aaron and I moved back almost 4 years ago.

We started our crazy weekend by going to the annual First Friday Parade. The twins seemed to enjoy the festivities and they got to practice their C-L-E-M-S-O-N in cadence count many times. We even got in a few WooHoos against daddy's wishes.

After the parade we headed over to the soccer field for the Men's game against the University of South Carolina-Clemson's big rival. It was an unbelievable crowd. They were hoping to get over 7,000 people in attendance to break the record-counts came in at 7,324. Needless to say there was standing room only.

 The Tigers pulled off the win and beat the Gamecocks 2-0. It was a great start to what will hopefully be a great year for the men. The twins were great through this all they spent sometime sleeping in the stroller and sometime just hanging out in the baby b'journs. This year they had the parade finish at the soccer stadium so they had the winning float announcement at halftime. I think we found one sorority that Riggs will not join at Clemson. There was a large group right behind us and every time they were called they screamed loudly-which made Riggs scream loudly as well. She was not impressed by them at all.

Also at half time they renamed the stadium to honor the first men's coach who won 2 national championships during his time. So now it is historic Riggs field at Ibrahim stadium.

This was a great evening for the entire family it is one that might become a yearly tradition for the Galloways!

Wednesday we went to Jackson's final fitting for his cranial helmet.

He has Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) babies develop positional plagiocephaly when movement in the uterus is constricted for some reason – because their mother is carrying multiples, for example. Plagiocephaly shows up most often in babies who are reported to be "good sleepers," babies with unusually large heads, and babies who are born prematurely and have weak muscle tone.
Babies with torticollis can also develop a flat spot on their skull because they often sleep with their head turned to one side. Torticollis occurs when a tight or shortened muscle on one side of the neck causes the chin to tilt to the other side. Preemies are especially prone to torticollis. (taken from www.babycenter.com)

Poor kid didn't have a chance-he is a twin, a good sleeper, has a large head, torticollis and was born almost 6 weeks early. We noticed early on his head seemed to be asymmetrical and have been watching this and consulting with his doctor on our plan of action to correct. Below are some pictures of his head where you can see this abnormal shape on the back right side of his head. Since it has flatten that means that it has had to push somewhere else. The front right forehead protrudes a bit and if you really look in the below picture you can see a slight protrusion on the back left.

He did so good during his fitting. I have to admit I was expecting him to scream the entire time-well he proved me completely wrong he was such a big boy. We will go back every week or two for them to adjust the fitting and then every 4 weeks he will have a new scan that they can overlay with the previous ones take to see the improvement. Currently he has a differential of 18mm. 0-5 is normal, 5-10 is mild, 10-15 moderate and over 15 is sever. While we would love to see him get to the 0-5 range we think a more realistic hope is around an 8.

We think we will have to wear it for 3-5 months for 23 hours a day. I am so thankful we caught this early and are able to take the steps needed to correct his head shape at an early age. Over the next few days he will gradually step up his wearing time until he is wearing it full time at 23 hours a day. So far he has done great with the little bit he has worn it. His mommy and daddy could not be more proud of him.

 Sunday we took the twins to their very first cradle roll class at church. They have been going to class with us since they were about 6 weeks old-normally during class time they were eating or sleeping so this worked great. The last few weeks they have been a little more restless so we decided they were ready to go to their own class at 4.5 months old.

This was the perfect week-it was promotion Sunday for all of the kids at church so they got to move up as well.

 I love our church and they have an amazing children's program. I am so excited to watch Jackson and Riggs grow up in this setting. Aaron and I feel it is very important to make this a part of their life at such a young age, teaching them to love and obey the Lord. They seemed so excited to be in their class with other little friends. I didn't get paged so I guess they meant they did OK-I kind of wanted to stand outside and watch them through the window but I refrained. I can't wait until they are older and they can tell us about what they learned on our way home from church.
